first_imgCaptain Steve Smith revelled on the find that Rahul Tripathi has been in this Indian Premier League season for Rising Pune Supergiant after the rookie batsman powered his team to a four-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens on Wednesday.Tripathi scored a match-winning 93 off 52 balls, hitting 9 fours and 7 sixes, even as wickets kept falling at the other hand and single-handedly steered Pune to the victory.”Rahul Tripathi, hasn’t he been a revelation for us? We thought that the wicket would slow down later in the game so we went pretty hard against the new ball to try and put as many runs in the powerplay. Tripathi took on the bowlers and it’s unfortunate that he hasn’t got a hundred. He really deserved it,” Smith said after the match.Smith was also happy about Pune’s run of wins, where they have won six out of their last 7 games.”It’s been a good little run for us, six out of seven games. Tonight was a good team performance. We did really well to keep them to 150.”Smith didn’t shy away from praising the efforts of his bowlers who restricted an explosive Kolkata batting line-up to just 155/8.”The bowlers really have done an exceptional job for us. The games we have won, we have taken wickets through the middle overs and put the brakes on the opposition. In fact quite a few different guys stand up and get us over the line,” he said.Smith hoped that the team would keep up with their consistent display and make it to the play-offs.advertisement”We need to stay consistent though and keep doing the basics right and hopefully we’ll record a few more wins and be there come playoffs time.”Rising Pune Supergiant will next travel to Hyderabad and take on fourth-placed Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium.last_img read more
