A Vevay woman is one of just 13 women to ever graduate from the Marine Corps’ Infantry Training Program.Pvt. Kassandra Woodward graduated from the infantry training course that included a live-fire exercise, 20-kilometer hike and a 72-hour field exercise. The women had to pass by the men’s scoring standard in order to graduate, Marine officials said.Woodward was one of ten female Marines to graduate from the program on Dec. 19. The first three women to ever graduate from the intense program was in the November class.State Representative Randy Frye (R-Greensburg) will present Woodward with a certificate of recognition as well as a flag that was flown over the Indiana Statehouse in Indianapolis. The presentation will be held at the Switzerland County Courthouse on Dec. 31.Pvt. Woodward will return to military duties on Wednesday.
