FRISCO, Texas – Vanderbilt’s Maria Bulanova is the Southland Bowler of the Month for January, the Southland Bowling League announced Thursday.Bulanova helped the Commodores to a pair of first-place finishes throughout the month of January, averaging 21.04 in traditional frames and 21.40 in Baker frames. The senior claimed her seventh individual tournament championship and a Most Valuable Player title at the Northeast Invitational (Jan. 17-19).January 2020 Bowler of the Month – Maria Bulanova, Vanderbilt – Sr. – Moscow, RussiaBulanova opened the month at the Vegas Classic (Jan. 10-12), pushing Vanderbilt to a team title with a 20th-place individual finish after averaging 21.16 per frame for the tournament. Two weeks later, she won her school-record seventh career individual title as the MVP at the Northeast Invitational (Jan. 17-19) with a 20.64 average per frame in a field of 26 teams. To close out the month, Bulanova placed sixth overall with a 21.86 frame average in a competitive 12-team field at the Prairie View Invitational (Jan. 31-Feb. 2).
